About ALA ASH
ALA ASH is a gorgeous, pampered 2003 Post 56 Convertible — a private sportfisher that has rarely been fished and never chartered, kept in Bristol condition with no expense spared. This is no cookie-cutter production boat: only eight of these semi-custom 56' Post Convertible Flybridge Sportfishermen were ever built, and this one has been continuously upgraded rather than merely maintained. Twin MAN D2842LE404 V12 diesels (1,300 HP each, ~990 original hours) deliver a 34-knot cruise and 39 knots wide open, with surprisingly good fuel economy from her 1,200-gallon fuel capacity and roughly 500 NM of range. A 21.5 kW Onan generator in an insulated hush box carries the house loads, and the Awlgrip-painted engine room is kept clean, dry and orderly. Her refit history runs deep. A full Awlcraft repaint of hull, deck and superstructure came in 2018; in 2023 the hull was refinished in Stars & Stripes Blue by Bluewater Yachts alongside a new teak cockpit deck, new teak-and-holly soles in the salon and galley, new stateroom carpeting and new Rupp triple-spreader outriggers. 2024 brought new Icom VHF radios, a Victron battery charger, four new 8D batteries, rebuilt Glendinning single-lever controls and new A/C pumps. In 2026 the running gear was gone through end to end — all seacocks replaced, rudder-post assemblies rebuilt, new dripless shaft seals, fresh bottom paint and reconditioned five-blade VEEM props. Below, matte-finished teak joinery runs throughout three staterooms and two heads, sleeping six. The master features a walkaround queen with ensuite head and shower; the galley carries Corian counters, six Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer drawers and a high-gloss teak-and-holly sole; and the salon pairs a large leather U-shaped sofa with a pop-up flat-screen TV and a custom LED-backlit liquor cabinet, both new in 2023. Topside, the flybridge wears a Post custom hardtop with full EZ2CY enclosure, twin Pompanette Platinum helm chairs, Glendinning Palm Beach single-lever controls and a modern electronics suite — Furuno 25 kW open-array radar, Garmin GPSMAP displays and Simrad AP48 autopilot. The new teak cockpit currently serves as an open-air lounge for cocktails and gatherings, though she remains fully rigged to fish with outriggers, a tackle center, fish boxes and a transom tuna door. Turn-key and ready to go, ALA ASH offers the look and feel of a far newer yacht at an unbeatable value in today's market.
